Canoe prow in the shape of a crocodile's head, collected in the Iatmul area in Papua New Guinea. The canoe remains the most common means of transport in the Sepik River valley. Most of these canoes used in the lower and middle Sepik regions have a carved prow depicting a crocodile, an animal both feared and revered. Wood with signs of use. Approx. 51 x 20 cm / €250 including shipping within Europe.
