Pair Of Marble Medallions, Profiles Of Louis XIV And Marie-thérèse Of Austria, 17th Century
An exceptional pair of white marble medallions, depicting the profiles of Louis XIV and Marie-Thérèse of Austria, set in a custom-made contemporary frame of wood painted to imitate marble. There are two small chips, one on the cheek and one on the back of Louis XIV's headdress, and a small loss on the edge of the medallion between four and six o'clock, invisible once framed. The two medallions have never been restored or even cleaned and retain their original patina.
