"Large Magic Statue Nkisi Nkondi - Vili People - Loango - Congo - Origin"
Rare magical Nkisi Nondi statue. It consists of a large hardwood sculpture with three heads: a fairly large central head and two smaller ones on either side covering their ears. The body is composed of plant elements, small sachets, and wooden nails. Vili people, Loango region, Democratic Republic of Congo. Statues of this size are rare. 95 cm high. Provenance: collected in the 1950s by a man named Kibabi and sold in the 1970s to a Belgian painter, José Chapellier.
