This is an antique Austrian desk accessory crafted from cast bronze with a gilded finish. The object consists of two main components: a figural owl and a large feather base. The owl figure serves as an inkwell; its head is hinged to open and close, revealing a cavity designed to hold a glass ink chamber. The expansive feather component functions as a pen tray or rest. The piece bears impressed marks on the underside consistent with the Franz Bergmann foundry, including the signature "Bergmann" and the German mark "GESCHÜTZT", which translates to 'protected' or 'registered'.
