Stained Glass - Art Deco Stained Glass Windows Depicting Women
A pair of Art Deco stained-glass windows, each depicting a fashionable woman from the 1920s or 30s. Both wear pearl necklaces and large fur coats.
The left-hand window is signed Sarrasin. Hippolyte Paquier Sarrazin (1882-1961) was a master glassmaker from Lyon who was very active in the first half of the 20th century.
With this stained-glass window, in which he uses industrial glass of varying textures and a geometric design, he captures a period rich in artistic and technical innovation: that of Art Deco.
