Rolex Sea-Dweller Reference 16600 Full Set
Switzerland, circa early 1990s
This wristwatch is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller, reference 16600, one of the most iconic professional dive watches produced by Rolex. Introduced as the successor to the reference 16660, the 16600 represents the final generation of the classic aluminium-bezel Sea-Dweller, produced prior to the later ceramic references.
The watch is housed in a 40 mm stainless steel Oyster case, engineered for extreme underwater performance and rated to a depth of 1,220 meters / 4,000 feet. Unlike the Submariner, the Sea-Dweller is distinguished by its absence of a Cyclops lens, a deliberate design choice to preserve structural integrity under saturation diving conditions. The watch is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel with black insert and a black dial featuring luminous hour markers and hands for optimal legibility.
Powering the watch is the robust and highly respected Rolex Calibre 3135 automatic movement, chronometer-certified and widely regarded as one of Rolex’s most reliable calibers. The case incorporates a helium escape valve on the left flank, a defining technical feature developed for professional saturation divers.
The watch is fitted with a stainless steel Oyster bracelet with a fold-over safety clasp, completing the utilitarian yet highly refined design for which the Sea-Dweller is known.
Offered here as a full collector’s set, the watch includes its original presentation boxes and documentation, enhancing both its historical integrity and long-term collectability. The overall condition of the watch and accompanying accessories is consistent with a carefully worn vintage example, showing signs of use appropriate to age.
