The original petit point embroidered fabric upholstery forms the narrative heart of the piece; the backrests feature romantic scenes in an Arcadian style, with figures in period costume immersed in rural landscapes and architectural ruins, framed by polychrome floral borders. The upholstery is secured with burnished metal studs.
