Gilt bronze sculpture, stamped "FRATIN" on the base.
A rare and beautiful example from the Fratin workshop, finely chased and gilded.
On the front of the base, in capital letters, barely legible: "L'IMPROVISATEUR" (The Improviser).
Circa 1840. Dimensions: 17 x 8 x 9 cm.

Commentary: "The Improviser" is the first of six stories written by Hans Christian Andersen (Andersen's Fairy Tales).
It was published in 1835 in two volumes.
