"Monochrome Chinese Vase With Gilt Decoration, Of European Origin, 18th Century"
A monochrome Chinese vase and cover, with European cold gilding. This tall, hexagonal baluster vase is decorated with fantastical motifs, birds, insects, and flowering plants. Some details are highlighted in black. The vase dates from around 1720–1740. The gilding is probably contemporary.
Height: 34.6 cm (13 5/8").
Condition: 1.3 cm deep at the rim, with a fine crack at the base of the neck.
The cold gilding is in remarkable condition.
The style of the decoration is reminiscent of the early 18th-century painter Martin Schnell.
