Octave Alfred Saunier was the nephew and pupil of Eugène Ciceri. He lived in Marlotte and was part of the Marlotte group. He painted in the Fontainebleau forest, along the banks of the Seine, and in Montigny-sur-Loing. He made his debut at the Salon in 1865 and exhibited until 1882.
