"Art Glass Vase Signed René Pierini – French Studio Glass, 1985 2366.002"
Important vase in blown and hot-worked glass, signed René Pierini under the base and dated 1985 (reference H47). The piece features thick glass with an abstract design, composed of broad, dark drips running through the mass, punctuated by inclusions in shades of green, gray, and amber. The surface offers a rich texture, alternating between satin and glossier areas, typical of French studio glass from the 1980s. The balanced and powerful baluster shape rests on a thick, circular foot with a wide, flared neck. The whole piece exudes a strong sculptural presence, both decorative and contemporary. In the 1970s and 1980s, René Pierini developed a body of work focused on the material, density, and depth of glass, placing himself within the European movement of creative glass, at the crossroads of art and object.
