Jacques Simon, a French painter and illustrator, studied under William Bouguereau and Gabriel Ferrier at the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He illustrated the works of Eugène Fromentin, Roger Vercel, Georges Duhamel, Roland Dorgelès, and Léo Larguier. A recipient of numerous medals at the Salons, he was a painter of nature, seascapes, the Norman countryside, and Orientalist works.
