Mexican Saber With A Toledo Blade Dated 1878, Mounted At Whim.
Iron hilt with a solid guard ring, featuring four S-shaped quillons decorated with geometric files and secured to the lower guard with screws. Below this is a cross with two inverted bands pointing towards the tip. Wooden grip. The blade is from the Spanish Navy, mounted at the whim of its owner and decorated on its first half. One of its sides bears the inscription "ARTILLERÍA FÁBRICA DE TOLEDO 1878" accompanied by the Spanish coat of arms; the other, an anchor surmounted by a crown. The sword comes with a tooled leather scabbard bearing the name "GEN. VENUSTIANO CARRANZA"; this scabbard is not original to the sword, but fits well and provides adequate protection for the blade during transport. Very good condition. Overall length: 90 cm; blade: 74 cm.
