Here is a pair of side or bedside tables designed by Guillerme and Chambron for Votre Maison, produced in the 1950s. Made of solid blond oak, they are distinguished by their top inlaid with polychrome ceramic tiles signed by Boleslaw Danikowski, a Polish ceramic artist based in France and a regular collaborator of the duo. The tables feature the typical Guillerme and Chambron design: a solid light oak structure with crossed arched legs; A rectangular tabletop enlivened by colorful glazed earthenware tiles, blending shades of blue, orange, and green; balanced proportions and warm finishes create a dialogue between craftsmanship and modernity. Jacques Chambron and Robert Guillerme, founders of the "Votre Maison" movement in Lille after the Second World War, left their mark on French furniture with a recognizable style: clean lines, sculpted solid oak, functional details, and decorative accents borrowed from traditional craftsmanship. Their collaboration with Danikowski, a master of glazed ceramics, brings an artistic touch to their creations, where each tile becomes a work of art in its own right.
