"Vanadinite - Mineral Curiosity - Raw Stone "
Beautiful specimen of Vanadinite. The name of this mineral comes from Vanadis, the Scandinavian goddess of beauty, better known as Freyja. The industrial world uses vanadinite for its ore, vanadium. This element, discovered in Sweden in 1830, is used as an additive in steels. The secret of manufacturing Damascus sword blades has been lost, but recent studies have revealed minute proportions of vanadium in the iron ore used. This element promotes carbon aggregation during forging, leading to the desired hardness. Hexagonal crystal system, rare mineral. Probable origin: Morocco. Weight: 385 g
