Liquefied gas rifle, invention and patent of the 1892 model by Mr. Paul Giffard. Sold by the Saint Etienne arms and bicycle factory until 1914/1918. Round barrel with sights, 4.5 mm caliber, powered by a liquefied gas system contained in a metal cartridge under the barrel, allowing for a capacity of 800 rounds. Interchangeable gas tube cartridge. Valve in contact with the firing pin, proof mark on the left side, breechblock engraved with acanthus and foliate decoration. Cocking lever allowing top loading. Mechanism in working order. Walnut stock with checkered section and buttplate bearing the markings and proof marks of the Montgolfière and the Giffard mark. Length 106 cm. Barrel length 65 cm.
