Set Of 6 Cesca B32 Chairs By Marcel Breuer 1970's
Artist: Marcel Breuer
Set of 6 Cesca B32 chairs by Marcel Breuer, 1970s.
A major figure of the Bauhaus, Breuer experimented early on with bent steel tubing to create lightweight, rational, and durable furniture. Having studied under Gropius, he developed a functional, minimalist aesthetic that became one of the languages of international modernism. Designed in the late 1920s, the B32—later nicknamed “Cesca” (for Francesca, Breuer's daughter)—is a cantilever chair without rear legs: a continuous chromed tube supports a wooden frame (beech/boulev) and a cane seat and back. It offers a unique combination of flexibility (the slight “spring” of the cantilever), comfort, and timeless design. Initially produced by Thonet, and widely distributed in the 1960s (Gavina and then Knoll), it has become an absolute classic. Set of six, this is a cohesive and highly sought-after ensemble for a dining room or professional space, easily paired with both contemporary and vintage styles.
