"Hunting Dagger, Silvered Bronze, Sharkskin Sheath, France, Ca. 1870."
A silvered bronze hunting dagger with a carved marine ivory handle bearing the initials "PP" in Gothic script. The guard is adorned with two wolf heads and a hunting trophy depicting a pheasant. The blade has double fullers and is stamped with a star-shaped "S" hallmark. The scabbard is made of sharkskin with silvered brass fittings.
French manufacture, Napoleon III period.
