WB Gouda, Holland – 20th century
This polychrome ceramic vase was produced by the WB Gouda factory, one of the emblematic workshops of the city of Gouda, renowned throughout the 20th century for its decorative ceramics. The model known as Regina Boston is distinguished by its well-balanced globular form, narrow neck and integrated handle, combining functionality with a strong decorative presence.
The vase is enriched with a stylised polychrome decoration composed of sinuous and floral motifs, characteristic of the Gouda decorative vocabulary. The warm palette—ochre, yellow, blue and black—is harmoniously arranged and enhanced by a satin glaze, giving the surface both depth and softness.
The underside bears the painted mark “Regina – Boston – WB Gouda – Holland”, confirming the authenticity of the piece. Representative of the European taste for modernised decorative arts, this vase stands as a decorative object of character, equally suitable as a standalone piece or within an eclectic interior composition.
