"Louis XVI Master's Commode"
A master craftsman's commode in solid mahogany, a Louis XVI style "officer's commode." Resting on four toupie feet with bronze mounts, this commode opens with three lockable drawers. The front uprights are projecting, reeded, and adorned with gilt bronze asparagus tips. The top is solid mahogany with spandrels, surrounded by an openwork bronze gallery at the front. The sides are paneled, and the rear uprights are fluted. The drawer frames and the back are made of solid oak. A masterpiece of 19th-century craftsmanship.
