A two-drawer desk and matching Art Deco armchair. The desk is made of molded and carved, ribbed mahogany. The visitors' side is divided into three panels, each featuring a medallion—two round and one oval—with title motifs inlaid in precious woods and mother-of-pearl on a Macassar ebony veneer background. The working side has a central drawer; each side pedestal opens with four drawers, their fronts also featuring title motifs inlaid in precious woods and mother-of-pearl on a Macassar ebony veneer background—the bronze handles echoing the title motif. The top has a leather-covered blotter (not original) on a Macassar ebony background. The legs are carved with geometric motifs. 1920s. Stamped MAJORELLE Nancy with a scallop shell in marquetry on one side. In used condition; the blotter leather has been replaced. The armchair is made of molded, ribbed mahogany. Openwork sides, cage-like legs, curved armrest fronts. Armrest ends with marquetry motifs in precious woods and mother-of-pearl. Gondola-shaped seat and back reupholstered in ivory leather. 1920s.
