Pair Of Etruscan-style Ewers, Mid-19th Century
A beautiful pair of baluster-shaped ornamental ewers in the style of ancient Greece, made of bronze with a medal patina, with long necks, domed and ribbed bodies, large and small handles, standing on a square base highlighted with Siena yellow marble, decorated with a satyr mask, heads of Apollo and Gorgon, busts of men, and engraved with friezes of scrolling foliage, palmettes, volutes, fine striations, etc. (minor chips to the marble base).
