"Mid-modernist Office, 1950s"
A modernist center desk with a balanced and clear composition, designed with functionality in mind. Produced around 1955. Its tablet-like shape and open storage layout lend themselves to a central placement in a room, where the piece asserts its understated elegance. This desk has been meticulously restored by our conservator; its top has been thoroughly polished and is now in near-new condition. A very similar example, sold by us in 2022, has been attributed to Louis Paolozzi based on formal characteristics and stylistic comparisons. W 160 cm x D 88.5 cm x H 77 cm. Usable height 58 cm. Usable depth 65 cm. Usable depth at the back 17 cm. Drawers: D 45 cm x H 9 cm. A few minor scratches and signs of normal wear remain on the black laminate top, and there is a small restoration mark near the first drawer (see photos).
