A Napoleon III period writing case in rosewood, enhanced with light wood stringing and guilloché moldings. The lid reveals an interior lined with mottled maple burl. It opens to reveal seven drawers, including two secret side drawers and a large central drawer, as well as a drop-front. The inside of the lid is decorated with mirrors and monograms. Large drawer in the front. Original lock and key in working order. Rests on claw feet at the front. French polished. Very good condition.
