Object description :

"Marly Horse, Bronze From The Restoration Period, 19th Century"
A mounted bronze sculpture representing one of the two Marly horses, a 19th-century work from the Restoration period, mounted on a Siena yellow marble and bronze base, with a lovely nuanced brown patina on the horse. Based on the famous marble groups created around 1745 by Guillaume Coustou, commissioned by Louis XV to adorn the watering trough at the Château de Marly... the originals of which are preserved at the Louvre.
