Elegant small porcelain tray from the Imperial Vienna Manufactory, dating to circa 1830–1840, executed in the refined Empire / early Biedermeier style.The shaped form features pierced borders, finely gilt scrollwork and polychrome applied floral decorations, modelled and hand-painted, characteristic of high-quality Viennese porcelain of the early 19th century.The centre is finely hand-painted with a scene from Torquato Tasso’s Gerusalemme Liberata, depicting Tancred aiding Erminia, rendered with excellent painterly quality, balanced colour palette and careful depiction of drapery and landscape.The underside bears the handwritten inscription “Tancrède secouru par Erminie” together with the blue shield mark of the Imperial Vienna Manufactory, confirming authenticity and period.The tray is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or restorations; the porcelain, decoration and central painted scene are perfectly preserved.A refined collector’s piece for Viennese porcelain enthusiasts, 19th-century decorative arts collectors and lovers of neoclassical literary subjects.
