A rectangular yellow gold and silver cigarette case/card holder with a gadrooned, fluted design. Made by the Puiforcat firm in Paris. Art Deco period, circa 1930. Hallmarked on both sides. Marked "Puiforcat Paris" on the edge. Hallmarks within a common oval (*): eagle's head for 18k gold and boar's head for 8k silver. Maker's mark: EP and a penknife. Puiforcat firm. Founded in 1820. Length: 10.7 cm - Width: 8 cm - Height: 1 cm. Gross weight: 185.91 g (18k gold and 8k silver). ( * ) Created on December 10, 1905 for the mark of French-made articles composed of gold and silver in which the weight of the accessory metal exceeds the proportion of 3 0/0 in relation to the total weight: it guarantees the minimum legal standard of 18 carat gold 750 thousandths and of solid silver 800 thousandths, minor traces of wear.
