Camille Hilaire (1916-2004) - Umbrella Pines

Oil on canvas depicting a Mediterranean landscape with stylized umbrella pines. The palette of deep blues, enhanced with touches of green and orange, lends the scene a luminous and poetic atmosphere. The canvas is signed lower right.Born in Metz in 1916, Camille Hilaire studied at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts before becoming a professor at the Beaux-Arts in Nancy, and later in Paris. In 1948, he received a prize from the City of Venice. The public was captivated by his beautiful new harmonies of blues and greens, broken down into their multiple shades.His painting is neo-Cubist in style, with effects of transparency in almost always vibrant color palettes. Throughout his career, Camille Hilaire was awarded numerous prizes, distinctions, and travel grants.
