"Regule "on The Mountain" By émile Guillemin (1841-1907)"
A very fine patinated spelter sculpture of a draped woman raising her arm. Émile Guillemin (1841-1907) worked in various materials (plaster, spelter, and bronze). His art is part of the Orientalist movement. He became known as a sculptor of busts, statues, and groups. He debuted at the Salon of 1870 with two plaster casts of Roman gladiators, Retaire and Murmillo, bronze versions of which were acquired by the French state for the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye. He exhibited at the Salon until the late 1890s, notably sending a series of bronze busts of Oriental women. His depictions of Indian falconers, Turkish girls, and Japanese courtesans firmly established his reputation as an Orientalist sculptor by the mid-1870s. Guillemin collaborated with major art publishers such as Barbedienne and Christofle. Good condition.
