An important famille rose Canton porcelain bowl decorated with courtesans in palace interiors, birds, and peonies within cartouches, all set within a background of floral scrolls, butterflies, flowers, and birds.
The glazes are magnificent and intensely colored. The bowl is adorned with a superb Louis XVI style bronze mount decorated with a row of pearls encircling the bowl and foliate finials that meet on a Louis XVI style bronze base worked with floral motifs and laurel garlands.
The bronze mount is in excellent condition, as is the porcelain.
The mount dates from the Napoleon III period. This type of porcelain was mainly shipped from China in the 19th century for export.
A beautiful presentation bowl that could serve as a trinket dish, fruit bowl, etc.
A timeless classic.
Dimensions:
26 cm for the porcelain bowl and 35 cm including the frame and handles.
