DESCRIPTION: Beautiful Boulle marquetry box in brass and tortoiseshell. Signed on the lock by the renowned firm TAHAN, the finest of the four: TAHAN, supplier to the King. Beautiful brass marquetry with scrolling foliage and interlacing motifs, prominently featured on the lid with a repeat on the front. Rests on four small Boulle feet. Ornamented with bronze ingot moldings on two levels. Key present but temperamental. PERIOD: Napoleon III period, between 1862 and 1868. DIMENSIONS: L 28 x W 21 x H 14 cm.
