Superb seascape by Combe Velluet, 1882. It depicts the castle of Gilles de Rais in Pornic, Loire-Atlantique. The castle is known as Bluebeard's Castle. Oil on canvas, signed lower right. A small hole is present (see photos). Superb giltwood and stucco frame. Louis Alphonse Combe Velluet, 1842–1902. Dimensions with frame: 84 x 63 cm. Dimensions of the painting: 61 x 41 cm.
