Charles Desavary was a student of Constant Dutilleux, whose son-in-law he became. He also studied under Thomas Couture and Camille Corot, with whom he became friends, as well as Eugène Delacroix. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1868 to 1885.
Museums : A significant collection of his paintings and photographs is held at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Arras. Paris: Musée d'Orsay and Musée Eugène Delacroix.
