18th Century Venetian Gondola Chair
A true museum piece of exceptional quality. 18th-century Venetian gondola seat with original polychromy. As is still the case today, the gondola has been used for centuries as a means of daily transport in Venice. In the 18th century, the elite used them to travel to their destinations. This type of seat was intended for an important person who could store their belongings in the compartment beneath the seat during the journey. Magnificent paintings adorn the back and sides, including angels, geese, and flowers. Original leather upholstery. We have left it as is for the sake of authenticity. However, we can also have it reupholstered in leather if you wish, or try to find a specialist for leather restoration. Elegant finishing touches with decorative studs.
