An important terracotta sculpture by Goldscheider of Vienna depicting Pierrot, a character from the commedia dell'arte, represented by Goldscheider at the end of the 19th century. The sculpture is of exceptional quality, featuring a beautifully sculpted face, a theatrical pose, and a fluid treatment of the costume, all typical of Viennese Art Nouveau production. The polychrome terracotta has a golden/ochre patina, characteristic of Goldscheider. A metal plaque is visible, bearing the inscription "PIERROT" circa 1895, the mark "Goldscheider Wien," the model number, and the sculptor's name.
