"Bull Painting After Brascassat"
Painting depicting a bull, early 19th century. A very interesting painting demonstrating great skill, showing a bull rubbing against a tree in all its power. Note the remarkable artistry in the bull's lively, bestial gaze and the beautiful rendering of its coat. The signature, Brascassat, is partially legible in the lower right corner. Jacques Raymond Brascassat was a renowned animal painter (1804 Bordeaux - 1867 Paris) who exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1831. This painting is clearly from this period, given the original canvas and stretcher. The frame is later, dating from the late 19th century. A very beautiful and rare painting for its time, and for its captivating subject. Shipping available within France and worldwide via secure, insured package with order tracking.
