The hunting horn is a hunting instrument.
During court hunts, the hunt is accompanied by horn calls (fanfares) which allow the huntsmen to communicate with each other and with their hounds.
The hunting horn was adopted by French hunting during the reign of Louis XV and under the influence of his master of the hunt, the Marquis de Dampierre.
Since then, the hunting horn has been inseparable from hunting. It owes its meaning and development to him.
The practice of the hunting horn is maintained by all hunters, for whom it is the instrument of communication during the hunt, but also by musical artists who know how to play it to perfection.
