Pair Of Candelabra
A rare pair of gilded and burnished bronze candelabra depicting two winged Victories holding a five-light candelabra, resting on plinths embellished with a chased sphere.
The two candelabra come from an important private collection in Monaco and were previously owned by a leading Parisian antiques gallery. Subsequently, after being acquired during the Lingotto Antiques Biennial in Turin (Federico Zeri was on the scientific committee), they were transferred to the Zabert Gallery in Turin, where they retain the original paper seal.
Presented at the time with an attribution to the renowned bronze artist Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843), they are, in my opinion, attributable to the Manfredini factory, of which, below, some historical information is available from publicly available websites.
They measure 116 cm in total height. They are in excellent condition, except for the replacement of one of the two screws to insert one of the two tips.
They show signs of wear and tear and can undoubtedly be dated to the first quarter of the 19th century.
Period: Early 19th century;
Origin: Italy;
