Art Nouveau “peacock” Stoneware Vase Central Europe, Zsolnay Entourage, Circa 1900
A substantial glazed stoneware vase, 57 cm high, with a high-relief naturalistic decoration depicting a peacock leaning against the body, accompanied by painted floral motifs. The slender form, the quality of the modeling, and the palette of green, beige, and ochre glazes link this piece to early 20th-century Central European production, within the Art Nouveau/Vienna Secession movement. The animal decoration in relief reflects the direct influence of the Zsolnay factory (Pécs, Hungary).
