Mid-19th Century Napoleon III Lantern
Elegant
polychrome porcelain and gilded bronze lantern with four lights. The lantern
features a square base, embellished with four cut glass panels engraved with
floral and geometric decorations. Further enhancing the piece are polychrome
porcelain partitions decorated with floral and geometric motifs in shades of
pink, blue, and gold along the edges and corners. At the top, the lantern is
topped with gilded bronze swirls and a porcelain flower stand, while the lights
also feature bronze handles and flower-shaped porcelain bobèches. This is a
lantern of great taste and refinement, capable of furnishing any space with
class and elegance. French manufacture from the Napoleon III period, around the
mid-19th century.
