"35 Gilt Silver Medals, "the Kings Of France", 24-karat Gold And 925 Silver, Minerva Hallmark"
A rare set of 35 silver-gilt medals (925/1000 fineness, Minerva hallmark) depicting the Kings of France from Hugh Capet to Louis-Philippe, issued in 1987 for the millennium of the Capetian dynasty. These medals are gilded with 24-karat gold. Several hallmarks are present on the edge: the Minerva hallmark for 925/1000 fineness, a lozenge-shaped maker's mark, a "special edition" hallmark, and a "C" hallmark. Each medal measures 39 mm in diameter and weighs between 19.8 and 20.2 grams, for a total weight of 695 grams. Each king is depicted on the obverse with his coat of arms on the reverse. The set is presented in its original blue case.
