Large Still Life With Pomegranates – Oil On Canvas, Signed Eugène Claude

Oil on canvas, signed lower left, by Eugène Claude (1841-1923), a 19th-century French painter known for his refined still lifes and who exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon.
This work depicts a still life with pomegranates, accompanied by a stoneware pot and a basin, a composition characteristic of the artist's work, highlighting the richness of the materials, the depth of the tones, and a subtly controlled light. He began his career as a porcelain painter, coming from a family of porcelain merchants.
He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1861 onwards and had therefore acquired a certain recognition at a very young age.
