Monogrammed in the plate lower right, countersigned in pencil lower right, and annotated lower left: "proof." This very high-quality engraving depicts Beethoven in a wooded forest. A student of Gustave Moreau, he exhibited his works in most of the Parisian Salons and abroad, winning a gold medal in the United States. He devoted himself primarily to engraving, using soft-ground etching, burin, etching, aquatint, drypoint, etc. A fine collector's item.
