"Solid Silver Fish Serving Set - 19th Century"
A solid silver fish serving set by the silversmith Jean Granvigne. The set comprises a scoop and a fork with openwork design, both adorned with rich chased decoration on the handles, scoop, and fork. Monogrammed SM. Each piece bears two Minerva hallmarks, one on the covered handles and the other on the scoop and fork. Silversmith's mark: JG and a vine. Master silversmith: Jean Granvigne. The Granvigne firm was active in Paris from the late 19th century until 1910. The workshops were located at 4 rue Béranger in Paris and were later taken over by Tétard. Registered in 1868, Jean Granvigne was a highly regarded Parisian silversmith known for his rich and exquisite work, so much so that Odiot regularly subcontracted production to him.
