A beautiful painting by Jean Cortot, a French artist born in Alexandria in 1925 and who died in Paris in 2018. He was also an illustrator, poet, and draftsman. A student of Othon Friez, this is a very fine oil on canvas from 1959. Dated on the back, it is titled "Lumière du Brusc" (Light of Le Brusc). Signed. Purchased from the Massol Gallery in Paris. A superb work of painting! In shades of pink. It measures 39 x 34 cm with its original burlap frame and gilt molding, and 25 x 21 cm without. Visually stunning!
