Library bust depicting the poet Jean de La Fontaine. The poet is shown with his head slightly turned to the left, wearing an artist's shirt and the large wig fashionable under Louis XIV. The bust is mounted on a small column of blue Turquin marble (a marble favored under Louis XVI). In good overall condition, the label identifying the figure is missing.
