Satsuma-style vase with a base in the shape of a Fu lion or Buddha (a mythical Buddhist animal that protects against evil spirits, negative energies, and malevolent people), finished in a reddish tone with gold details. Satsuma porcelain originated in Japan in the 6th century AD and is still produced today. It became known in Europe after the International Exhibition in Paris in 1867.
