A Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze And Painted Porcelain Fireplace Set – Late 19th Century
A Louis XVI style mantel clock and two matching cassolettes, crafted from gilt bronze and painted porcelain. The clock features a finely chased gilt bronze case adorned with garlands, foliage, and classical motifs. The enamel dial with Roman numerals is decorated with a polychrome painted scene depicting a putto. The base also features a painted porcelain scene framed in bronze. The mechanical movement, wound by a key visible at the back, was in working order at the time of this description. The two cassolettes are made in the same decorative style, with gilt bronze mounts, foliate handles, and painted porcelain elements depicting floral scenes and decorations. Likely French work, dating from the late 19th century, in the style of Neo-Louis XVI pieces combining bronze and decorative porcelain. Dimensions. Clock: W 24 × H 46 × D 12 cm / Cassolettes (each): W 25 × H 30 × D 11 cm. Condition: Good overall condition, with visible signs of wear and age, particularly on the gilding and painted decoration.
