Screenprint on paper titled "Module XXI," signed in pencil lower right, numbered 31/50 lower center, dating from 1973. Note a small tear on the left edge and a trace of dampness, also present around the perimeter of the work. A leading figure of Op Art, a movement stemming from geometric abstraction, constructivism, and cubism, Marko Spalatin was born in Zagreb (Yugoslavia) and moved to the United States in 1963. In 1968, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, followed in 1971 by a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His works are included in numerous permanent collections, notably at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, the Tate Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
