Oil on canvas by Abel Lauvray depicting a Seine riverbank at Vétheuil. Abel Lauvray (1870-1950) was a landscape and portrait painter associated with the Post-Impressionist movement. He met Claude Monet, who was then living near his family home in Vétheuil, and they became friends. In 1893, he accompanied Monet on the Seine in the studio boat that he later bought. Marked by his admiration for Claude Monet, Abel Lauvray excelled in capturing the soft light of the landscapes he painted with great sensitivity. He produced approximately 1,500 paintings during his long career, but unfortunately, more than 500 were destroyed in a fire that ravaged his studio. This painting depicts a Seine riverbank at Vétheuil. Dimensions with frame: 67cm x 82cm. Dimensions without frame: 50cm x 65cm.
